My Feelings on Apoliticals

During this season, I have rattled against both parties. During this season, I have been conflicted on who I am disgusted with more: the pro-lifers who are going to vote for Trump because of his supposed pro-life credentials (which I refuted in detail), or the progressives who are going to vote for Hillary Clinton for her supposedly progressive values (which I also refuted in a three volume series). In my disgust, I thought about another subject: apoliticals.

Who are apoliticals? Apolitical people are the people who know little to nothing about politics. I divide apoliticals into two subgroups: the apoliticals by circumstance, and the apoliticals by choice. The apoliticals by circumstance are the people who don’t pay attention to politics because they don’t have the time or money. Perhaps they couldn’t afford to go to college. Perhaps they can’t afford a TV or a computer, much less cable or Internet access. Perhaps they’re too busy with work or other personal commitments that they don’t have the time to keep up with the election news. These are the apoliticals who we should sympathize with.

Then you have the other subgroup, the apoliticals by choice. These are the people who may have the resources to learn about politics at their disposal, they just choose not to. They would rather preoccupy themselves with things like reality TV or celebrity gossip. Of course, I am not saying that either subgroup is inherently evil. In fact, in many respects, they are the victim. They have become alienated by the static nature of the system, and they feel powerless to change it. In addition, they probably believe that it’s just better for them just to stay away from the heated and passionate nature of politics. In fact, I cannot blame them, as I want to do the same at times.

In conclusion, I have decided to let apoliticals be. If they don’t have the time or money to pay attention to politics, we should not hold that against them. If they don’t want to get engaged in politics, that is their choice, and I will respect that. I live my life, and they live theirs. I encourage you to do the same.

God Bless America,

The Centrist Voice
