The Texas Massacre

My Fellow Americans,

Yesterday, there was a terrible massacre in Sutherland Springs, Texas. 26 people – including children, which included the 14-year-old daughter of the pastor – were killed at First Baptist Church by 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelley. Kelley himself was later found dead in his car from a gunshot wound.

Kelley served in the United States Air Force, and was court-martialed in 2012 for assaulting his wife and child. He later served a year in military prison, and was discharged in 2014. After transiting to civilian life, he lived in Colorado and Texas. In  April of 2016, Kelley purchased a Ruger AR-556, which he used to commit the massacre.

I stand with the people of Texas in this terrible tragedy. We need to do more to make sure that this never happens again.
